Frogpond Lake Trail This trail is located on Goat Island, which is in Powell Lake. The 5km hike starts at the shores of Powell Lake and leads to Frogpond Lake in the middle of the Island. Halfway through the hike, there is a bench and viewpoint which offers stunning views of Fiddlehead Farm and Tin Hat Mountain. Access: The trail can be accessed by taking a boat to the east side of Goat Island at Cassiar Falls. |

Halfmoon Fir Trail The highlight of this trail is the grove of ancient trees that lie among a huge second growth forest. At its centre is the Halfmoon Fir, which is the largest known tree on the Sunshine Coast. The lush terrain is inhabited by a variety of plant life, including ferns, mosses and mushrooms. The trail is wheelchair accessible. Access: 9km north of Sechelt on Hwy 101, take the Halfmoon Carlson Forest Service Road. Proceed exactly 2.8 km. A skid trail leaves the road on your right. Park at a wide spot immediately beyond the trail. |

Inland Lake Trail This must-see trail is a favourite among families and is completely wheelchair accessible. The trail loops around Inland Lake and is perfect for a day hike or an overnight adventure. Access: Located 12km north of Powell River, the trailhead can be found at the Inland Lake Provincial Park. |

Princess Louisa to Sims Creek Traverse Set amidst the world famous Pricess Louisa Inlet, this difficult multi-day hike rewards those brave enough to attempt it with gorgeous vistas, picturesque waterfalls and compelling glaciers. Access: From Egmont (accessible via the Sunshine Coast Highway), Hikers will need to hire a water taxi or charter a flight to take them to the head of Princess Louisa Inlet and the provincial campsite at Chatterbox Falls. |

Cliff Gilker Park Trails Trails in this popular park run alongside the picturesque Roberts Creek, and are situated amidst a lush forest. Highlights include the several wooden bridges that cross the creek, and the spectacular waterfall. Klein Lake Traverse at Ruby Lake This upgraded trail links Ruby and Klein Lakes, and some parts of the trail offer fabulous views of Ruby Lake and the Sechelt Inlet. Access: From the south on Hwy 101, park at Dan Bosch Park, which is 600m north of the Ruby Lake Resort at the north end of the Sunshine Coast. Mount Daniel Trail Adventurers often brave this difficult hike just to catch a glimpse of the priceless view from to top. The consensus so far is that it's more than worth it. Another reason people forge their way up is to see the historic Moon Rings, which have been built over hundreds of years by the adolescent girls of neighbouring Aboriginal tribes. Access: North of Pender Harbour, turn left on Garden Bay Road. Follow for 3.4km. Take the first dirt road on the left after Oyster Bay Road. There is a sign the says 'Mount Daniel Trail. Powell River All routes at this new Canadian climbing destination range from simple scrambling to vertical climbs and even overhangs. Also in the area are the menacing Eldred River Valley climbs. Granite cliffs tower 600 m (2,000 ft) over the valley floor. Difficulty of the climbs in the area have been rated between 5.9 to 5.11 by the rock climbing grading system and most are suitable only for experienced climbers. |

Caren Peak Trail The highlight of this trail is the panoramic view from the summit of the Sechelt Inlet and the Strait of Georgia. The area also boasts a 1736-year-old yellow cedar stump (don't even try to count the rings on this one!). Access: Take Hwy 101, 11km north of Sechelt. The Sunshine Coast Trail Divided into five sections and totalling 180km, the Sunshine Coast Trail is an incredible feat to accomplish, and those who do will be rewarded with some of the most spectacular coastal and wilderness views in Canada. Camping sites are available along the way, and the trail is well-maintianed, with the exception of a few spots that are best left to experienced hikers. Access: Hikers can start at either Saltery Bay (south end of the trail), or at Sarah Point (north end of the trail). Pender Hill Trail This trail is highly recommended because of the spectacular view the peak affords. Crater Lakes Trail A moderate 25km hike takes visitors to Little Crater Lake, a picturesque body of water surrounded by lush forest. Hikers can head back or continue on to Big Crater Lake by following the trail. Access: The 2-hour drive to the trailhead can be completed with 4-wheel drive only. Chapman Creek Trail The Chapman Creek trail is of moderate difficulty, and is mainly flat with some minor steep sections. The highlight of this trail is the hidden Gnome faces, carefully carved by local artist Terry Chapman. With seventeen in all, finding the faces is half the fun of the hike.
