This grassy waterfront park has a free boat launch and public washrooms. With abundant marine wildlife, Coopers Greens is a popular starting point for divers, but anyone venturing into the water should beware-the area is home to some of the largest octopuses in the world.

Sargeant Bay Provincial Park Sechelt
This little-known spot is home to an abundance of wildlife, including eagles, owls, wild geese, and numerous inter tidal creatures. Many hiking trails, including the prominent triangle lake trail, meander through the region, but hikers beware. Black bears are commonly spotted in the area.

Harmony Islands Marine Provincial Park
This isolated wilderness gem is surrounded by warm water, making it an ideal spot for swimming and snorkeling. Kayaking and canoeing is also available at the park. The park is accessible only by boat, and a safe anchorage is provided. The smaller nearby islands are privately owned and should not be disturbed.

Simson Provincial Marine Park
Simpson Provincial Marine Park is 461 ha (1140 acre) and comprises most of South Thormanby Island in the Gulf of Georgia. Accessible only by boat, the park can be used for hiking, fishing and kayaking. There are three wilderness campsites in the area but no facilities are provided.

Saltery Bay Provincial Park
Saltery Bay Provincial Park was established in 1962 to provide ocean access on the Sunshine Coast of Georgia Strait. The park is divided into two separate sites: the campground and the day-use area. The day-use area with its rocky beaches is a popular swimming and picnic site. Lush forests with large, old trees create a quiet setting for the campground at Mermaid Cove. At low tide, the rocky shoreline often has tidal pools with starfish, sea urchins, small fish and crabs. Scuba diving provides a close-up look at the abundant marine life and a 3-metre bronze mermaid statue. The Emerald Princess statue and wheelchair access ramp were placed in the park through efforts of local scuba enthusiasts. From the shore, killer whales and sea lions can sometimes be seen. Mounds of seashells called "middens" indicate that this was a traditional gathering area for First Nations. Send an Email

Tetrahedron Provincial Park
This stunning natural area has not attracted the masses of people that its fellow parks have, leaving it relativly untouched. The park encompasses three mountain peaks, three fresh water lakes and numerous streams and wetlands. There are four rustic cabins in the park that are accessible only via internediate to expert hiking trails. Fires, swimming, pets and motorized vehicles are all prohibited.

Skookumchuck Narrows Provincial Park
With up to 200 billion gallons of water flowing through the Skookumchuck Narrows, the rapids are a spectacular natural show for visitors to take in, particularly during low and high tide. The 123-hectare park features many hiking trails, including the easy 4 km hike to the rapids, which nearly 40,000 visitors embark on each year.

Buccaneer Bay Provincial Marine Park
Buccaneer Bay Provincial Marine Park is a mere 1 ha (2.5 acre) but features a sandy beach and water warm enough for swimming. It is also possible to canoe, kayak and do some wilderness camping. Visitors are advised to bring their own water. The park can be accessed by boat from Thormanby Channel.

This scenic marine park had an interesting past as and illegal Chinese immigrant entry point. Today, the park, which is only accessible via boat or a 4 km hike from the highway, is an excellent spot to hike, swim, or picnic. It also includes a 5-site wilderness campground, but no camping facilities are available.

Sechelt Inlets Marine Provincial Park
This Majestic natural wonderland, located 20km (12mi) north of Sechelt, is made up of 6 different sites: Thornhill, Halfway Beach, Tzoonie Narrows, Skaiakos, Kunechin Point and Piper Point. Within the area, there are 28 campsites, with pit toilets being the only available luxury. The area is ideal for scuba diving, especially at Kunechin Point where scuttled Canadian Forces destroyer 'The Chaudiere' has formed an artificial reef. Kayaking is an exhilarating (although challenging) way to enjoy the area. Native Petroglyphs can also be found in the area. The park is accessible by boat or float plane only.

Spipiyus Provincial Park
Also known as the Caren Range, this park is one of the only legal hunting areas (though a permit is required) on the Sunshine Coast. While there is not much opportunity for hiking, the old logging roads are accessible to motorized vehicles. The old fire tower, one of the last in the province, provides and excellent viewing point.

Desolation Sound Marine Provincial Park
With nearly 100 km of coastline and numerous islands and bays, the Desolation Sound marine park is a haven to adventurers and water babies alike. Since there is no road access to the park, boaters congregate in popular spots like Grace Harbour, but isolated areas can still be discovered. Desolation sound is an excellent place for sea kayaking, and shellfish are abundant here.
